Hub Moon was written on a single Linux box against a single DAWN PRO2. That is a narrow base for something that writes to other people's hardware — so the people below, who ran it on machines nobody here owns and reported what happened, are the reason anything beyond that one setup can be claimed at all.

Windows testing

The Windows build is produced by a GitHub runner and has never been opened on a Windows machine by its author. Two people fixed that — the application, at least. Neither had a Moondrop DAC to plug in, so what they proved is that it installs, runs and browses there, not yet that it can drive hardware.

Windows 11 interface community library

Ran the packaged installer on Windows 11 and confirmed it installs, launches and renders, and that the community library loads and searches. No DAC was attached — so the Windows download is a known-working application, and the HID path there is still waiting for someone with a device.

Windows interface community library

Ran the same build on a second Windows machine — interface and community browser again, and again with no DAC attached. One report is an anecdote; two on different hardware is the difference between "it worked once" and something a stranger can be told to download.

Why this gets a page

Every claim on this site is scoped to what was actually run — the verification table still marks HID on Windows, the interactive panel and every device other than the DAWN PRO2 as untested, and it will keep saying that until someone runs them. Testing on hardware the author cannot buy is the single most useful thing anyone can contribute here, and it deserves to be named rather than buried in a commit message.

Built on

Open work that Hub Moon stands on, and the licences that made using it possible.

Slint The toolkit behind the desktop app — a native window compiled to real widgets, no browser anywhere near it.

hidapi The one dependency that matters: cross-platform raw HID, which is how anything here reaches the DAC at all.

Material Symbols Apache-2.0. The icons are extracted from it as vector outlines at build time, so no font ships and none has to be found at runtime.

IBM Plex SIL OFL 1.1. This site is set in it — Sans for prose, Mono for every value a machine produced.

PyInstaller, nfpm, AppImage One spec becomes an .exe, a .app, an AppImage, a .deb and an .rpm without any of those platforms being present.

And the library itself

The community preset browser reads Moondrop Hub's public library — roughly 59,700 curves from 19,900 authors who published them for free. Hub Moon only ever reads: it never publishes, likes or comments. Those curves are other people's listening, and they are the best part of the feature.

Not affiliated

Hub Moon is unofficial and not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by MOONDROP. The USB HID protocol was reverse engineered from their web app; the coefficient packing and PEQ byte layout have since been checked against that app's own JavaScript and match it exactly, but the command set is still inferred from observed behaviour rather than any documented specification. The vendor owes this project nothing, and this project speaks for nobody but its author.
